Built the Expo mobile app
Turned the supplied Figma design into a working mobile application for sermon notes, small-group notes, search, reference, and account settings.
A mobile note-taking app for sermons and small-group meetings, with sermon-note imports, scripture links, and a focused writing experience.
Technology
Overview
FaithfulNotes helps Christians take notes during sermons and small-group meetings.
Paper notes remain common, while many people now bring digital devices to church. General-purpose PDF editors can be difficult to use and do not automatically deliver each week's sermon PDF.
FaithfulNotes retrieves sermon notes from partner churches. Users can import the current week's notes into their account and use linked Scripture references to look up passages in their preferred translation.
What was accomplished
The work covered product development, design implementation, backend development, deployment, and ongoing maintenance.
Turned the supplied Figma design into a working mobile application for sermon notes, small-group notes, search, reference, and account settings.
Created the AWS backend with Lambda, DynamoDB, SNS, SQS, SES, and EventBridge to support the mobile product and automated content delivery.
Added the workflow that retrieves sermon notes from partner churches and makes the current week's notes available for import.
Made Scripture references in notes easier to use by linking them to passages in the user's preferred translation.
Continued as technical lead and maintainer for the mobile app and its AWS backend.
Capabilities now in place
Write and review notes in a mobile experience designed for church meetings and personal study.
Find sermon notes from partner churches and messages a user follows.
Bring the current week's sermon notes into an account without working through a general PDF editor.
Recognize scripture references and make the related passages easier to look up.
Selected screens
The screens show the main product paths, from sign-in and recent notes to scripture-linked editing, church reference, and account settings.
