Faithful Notes
Privacy policy
Last updated: October 31, 2026
How the app uses your information, where it is stored, and how to request help.
About this policy
This policy applies to the Faithful Notes mobile app and its related account services. If/Then Software provides the app. For a privacy question, email josh@ifthen.software.
The website privacy notice covers the If/Then Software website and its inquiry form.
Data the app uses
- Account data: your email address, account identifier, and profile or preference values you provide. Your password is used to protect access to your account.
- Your content: notes, titles, tags, note links, images, and the files or text you submit for import.
- Your app choices: followed churches, Bible translation, saved notification choices, and sermon playback position.
- Device and service data: information needed to send notifications to your device, your device type and app version, error reports, and information about app speed and reliability.
- Support messages: your contact details and any information you send when you ask for help.
Notes and followed churches can reveal religious beliefs. Only include information that you want the service to process. Do not include another person's private information without permission.
Why the data is used
The app uses this data to sign you in, save and sync your notes, show Bible passages, process imports, play available sermon audio, and send requested notifications. Error and performance data help find and correct faults. Support information helps answer your requests.
The app does not include advertising software or use your notes for targeted advertising. Faithful Notes does not sell personal data or track you across other companies' apps for advertising.
Device storage and account sync
Your notes and unfinished work are saved on your device first. Account data is then copied to the service when an internet connection is available. Images and other files can also remain in private app storage on your device.
Some choices, such as dismissed notices, stay on the device. A local save does not mean that the online copy has already changed. An offline device can retain data until it reconnects or its app data is removed.
Service providers and sharing
Faithful Notes uses service providers for the following purposes. They receive the information needed to provide these functions.
- Account access and storage: providers process account details and store notes, images, preferences, and other saved content.
- Photo processing: when you submit a photo for import, online services check it for unsuitable content and read its text. The service uses artificial intelligence to format the extracted text into a note. Your submitted photo and extracted text are processed outside your device. Check the result before you use it.
- Error reporting: providers receive filtered error reports and information about app speed and reliability. The app removes note text, account details, passwords, and private access information from these reports. Providers can still receive connection information, such as an IP address.
- Notifications: delivery providers process information that identifies your device and the messages sent to it when notifications are enabled.
- Bible and sermon content: providers supply Bible passages and available sermon content. Opening an external link can send connection information to that provider.
- App updates: update providers can receive your app version, device type, and connection information.
Information can also be disclosed when required by law or when needed to protect the service and its users. Data can be processed in the United States or other countries where providers operate.
Permissions and your choices
You choose whether to submit a photo for import. Camera and photo permissions support the images you choose to add. You can change these permissions in iOS Settings. You can also turn notifications off in iOS Settings.
You can edit or delete notes in the app. To ask for access, correction, a copy of your data, or account deletion, email the privacy contact below. Identity checks may be needed before an account request can be completed. Do not send your password.
Signing out or removing the app does not delete your remote account. Turning off a permission does not remove information already submitted.
Retention and deletion
Saved account content remains available while it is needed to provide your account and until it is deleted. The service keeps a record of deleted notes to prevent an older device from restoring them. Import history and deletion records currently have no automatic expiry.
Temporary photos from failed or canceled imports are removed after any active transfers end. Photos from successful imports remain until the photo is saved with the note or the related content is deleted. Import results that you have not saved can remain available for account recovery.
Deletion can take time when a device is offline, a transfer is active, or removal must be tried again. Deleted data can remain in backups until those backups expire. An account deletion request covers account information, saved content, import history, and notification settings.
Contact the privacy address for retention details that apply to your account and for the status of a deletion request. Removal from offline devices and backups is not immediate.
Security
The service limits access to your account and stored files. These controls reduce risk but cannot prevent every security incident. Keep your device protected and do not share your account password.
Children’s information
Faithful Notes is for general use and is not designed to collect information from children under 13. If you believe a child has submitted personal information, contact the privacy address so the information can be reviewed and removed where required.
